NEW YORK (AP) — When Mike Tyson looks back on his friendship with Tupac Shakur, he thinks about the rapper's big heart, explosive anger — and the one regret he has about their relationship.

"He always wanted me to smoke weed (marijuana) with him, and I never did it, and I wish I did," Tyson said in a recent phone interview.

NASSAU, Bahamas (AP) — A judge in the Bahamas dismissed charges Monday against two people accused of trying to extort money from John Travolta after the actor decided he no longer wanted to face the pain of a new trial stemming from the death of his teenage son on the island chain.

Prosecutor Neil Braithwaite had submitted a motion to drop the case just as a retrial was about to start for the two defendants.

LOS ANGELES (AP) — The fright flick The Last Exorcism and the heist thriller Takers were in a photo finish for the top spot at the weekend box office, according to studio estimates Sunday.

Lionsgate's The Last Exorcism had a thin lead with a $21.3 million debut, closely followed by Sony's Takers with a $21 million opening. They were close enough that rankings could change after final numbers are released Monday.

Chris Brown once again scored a positive review from a Los Angeles judge as he attended his fourth status hearing on Thursday afternoon (August 26) stemming from his probation for attacking former flame Rihanna in February 2009.

Brown, sporting a white dress shirt and black vest, arrived to the courtroom with his attorney Mark Geragos shortly before 1:45 p.m. PT. Jamaica has always enjoyed favourable placings in international pageants and local delegates are usually singled out at the start of such events. However, Monday night's second place finish by Yendi Phillipps, is Jamaica's highest placing at Miss Universe. The closest Jamaica has ever fared was in 1991, when international model, Kimberly Mais took 5th place.

Speaking to the Observer yesterday, Kimberly pointed to a number of similarities between her year and the 2010 pageant. That year the pageant was also held in Las Vegas, Nevada, and Miss Mexico also won the pageant back then.

Harvard Law Grad Cops Miss Jamaica World

THE second time seems to be the charm for Chantal Raymond. After a previous attempt at the Miss Jamaica World title in 2008, she decided to give it a shot this year, and on Saturday night, walked away with the title, prizes and the opportunity to represent Jamaica at Miss World in Sanya, China, later this year.

Just minutes after her coronation, it was an excited, yet extremely composed Raymond who explained to the Observer that she did not feel that she gave the contest her all on her first attempt. "This is something I have always wanted to do, however the first time I did it for the fun. This time, however, I was more determined to put in the work required to get the desired results," she stated.

Reggae/Dancehall Dying In The US?

It would seem that the Reggae/Dancehall music fraternity is being hit by one blow after another. Top deejays have lost their US visas and work permits, and Buju Banton, Ninjaman and Flippa Mafia are off the scene — all facing criminal charges.

The big question now is, how will this impact the dancehall community at large. Already, the top annual reggae show in the United States — Irie Jamboree — has cancelled this year's staging.
