Operator TNT
Ky-mani Rudolph Davis III (Operator TnT) was born in George Town, Grand Cayman. With his parents being from Belize City, Belize and rest of family from Jamaica, having lived in all these places he could be considered an all rounder. TNT has been in the DJ game since 1988, with the expertise of Neil Sambula a.k.a DJ Neil Sam, TNT was taught mixing, scratching and the early elements of making a crowd go 'buck wild'.
At the tender age of 15 TNT entered his first 'sound clash'. Not knowing what he was getting into he got the first taste of what it was like getting involved with the big dogs. At the end of the clash he did receive an award and much props from DJ Dirty Harry, R.I.P, an established selector ruled the Caymans in that era. He told TNT “Yute, hold d faith, u ago mek it”. From there, TNT decided to stay in the game and persevered to become a household name. He continued to play music throughout his teenage years and gained popularity throughout the community and island wide. TNT was introduced to music by his Father, the late Rudolph Davis II, R.I.P., because of this he came up on all kinds of different music, Souls, Ballads, Disco, Funk, Blues, Jazz, Dancehall, Soca, Punta to name a few. This was extremely effective when it came down to entertaining a wide variety of people young and old. A lot of sound systems from back in the day paved the way for the reigning sounds and selectors of today . TNT favored sounds like Stonelove, 4x4 Exodus, Bass Odyssey, Silverhawk, Travellers, Kilimanjaro, David Rodigan to name a few. As far as dj’s go he paid special attention to icons like Lazaro Mendez (Power 96 Miami), Felix Sama(Hot 95 Miami), Raymond Melendez (Power 96 Miami), Red Alert (WBLS New York), Funkmaster Flex (Hot 97 New York). He picked up a little something from each of those people and created his own style. After graduating from High School, TNT joined forces with a local Caymanian sound called New Generation Disco. The sound was a young sound with some determined youth. Selectors Jason Hamilton (Jugga) R.I.P., Jerome Myrie (Turtle) R.I.P. was the heart and soul of the sound. Fadda Wayne the owner, TNT, Festa, Kristen, Tom, John Paul and the Central Crew along with an entourage of supporters and fans made waves in the islands in the late 1990’s. Years later new Generation hung up the boots, TNT was still on a mission to be heard. He joined the ranks of another Cayman called Renegade. Made up of several members, this is where TNT and the well known John D Baptist who now resides in Miami made their start to become well known selectors. Renegade like New Generation moved like a family and was team players this is what attracted TNT to the sound. Together with Mally, Garth, Clarky, Chin Yee, Big Bram, Renegade sound made a lethal impact on changing the game in the latter 90’s in Grand Cayman. In September of 2000 TNT moved to Tampa Florida to complete his tertiary education at DeVry University.
