Chris Brown To Perform At The Grammys

Chris Brown will perform at this year’s Grammy Awards, the event where his career almost ended three years ago.

Brown admitted to assaulting then-girlfriend Rihanna at a pre-Grammy party in 2009 and is serving five years of probation for the felony attack. A source told The Associated Press on Monday that Brown will hit the stage at Sunday’s show. The source spoke on condition of anonymity because Brown’s performance has not been officially announced.

After the attack, Brown’s reputation plummeted, but he has since bounced back, releasing multiple mixtapes and the multi-hit album, “F.A.M.E. (Forgiving All My Enemies).” The CD is nominated for three Grammys, including best R&B album.

Rihanna also will perform at the show. She’s nominated for four awards, including the top prize – album of the year – for her platinum effort “Loud.”

Brown and Rihanna were supposed to perform at the 2009 Grammys, but that changed after Brown attacked the pop singer in the early morning hours before the awards show. Since then, Brown has not attended the Grammys, although he was nominated for three awards last year.

A judge eased a restraining order last February after an attorney for Rihanna said she didn’t object to removing the stay-away provisions. The former order required Brown to stay 50 yards away from 23-year-old Rihanna, but the restriction was reduced to 10 yards if they were at a music industry event.

Brown, 22, has been nominated for Grammys in five of the last six years, though he has never picked up the top prize in music. His song “Look at Me Now,” which features Lil Wayne and Busta Rhymes, is nominated for best rap song and best rap performance.

Rihanna is the owner of four Grammys, three with Jay-Z. She alone won a Grammy last year for her No. 1 smash, “Only Girl (In the World)” for best dance recording. In addition to album of the year, her fifth CD “Loud” is up for best pop vocal album. Rihanna is also nominated twice for best rap/sung collaboration for another No.1 jam – the Drake-assisted “What’s My Name?” – and for her guest appearance on Kanye West’s “All of the Lights.”

The Grammys will air live on CBS from the Staples Center in Los Angeles.

The family of Bob Marley has announced the first ever authorized documentary on the singer will be in theaters this April.

Magnolia Pictures has teamed with VH1 to obtain the United States rights to Academy award-winning director Kevin McDonald’s documentary “Marley.”

“Marley” is being executive produced by Island Records’ founder Chris Blackwell, as well as Bob Marley’s son Ziggy Marley.

The documentary will make its world premiere at the 62nd Berlin International Film Festival in February, and will premiere in North America, at SXSW this March.

“This documentary is the ultimate revelation of my father’s life,” Executive Producer Ziggy Marley told AllHipHop.com in a statement today (February 6), on what would have been his father’s 67th birthday.

“The family is proud to be able to have the world finally experience this emotional journey,” Ziggy Marley said.

“Marley” is the first official autobiography to tell the definitive life of Bob Marley, who was a musician, political activist and father.

The documentary is comprised of rare footage, archival photos and interviews with family, friends and bandmates.

Marley, who was posthumously inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1994, is a best selling artist around the world.

His compilation album Legend has sold over 10 million copies around the world by itself, while his Facebook page has over 35 million fans.

Bob Marley was born Robert Nesta Marley on February 6, 1945.

He’s the son of white quartermaster Captain Norval Marley of the British West Indian Regiment and an eighteen-year old black Jamaican woman, Cedella Malcolm.

He died on May 11, 1981, at the age of 36, from melanoma cancer.

“Marley” is slated to open in theaters and all VOD and digital platforms on Friday, April 20th.

“Bob Marley is a fascinating, towering figure in musical history, and ‘Marley’ is the biography that he deserves,” said Magnolia President Eamonn Bowles. “Kevin Macdonald has once again shown himself to be a master documentarian with this eye-opening, entertaining, beautifully crafted film.”

VH1 has licensed the documentary through their Emmy-Award winning VH1 Rock Doc franchise.

Judge Orders for Bow Wow’s Arrest

Last week, it was revealed that Bow Wizzle was served with a huge tax lien for owing $126,086.14 in back taxes, and now a judge has ordered for his arrest on site for avoiding a civil lawsuit.

The civil lawsuit was filed back in 2009 by a tour bus company which claims that Bow Wow never paid his bill totalling almost $100,000. Bow Wow was supposed to produce documents in his home state regarding the lawsuit, but he never did.

As a result, the tour company filed a motion to have the rapper held in contempt, and a judge in Georgia wants him arrested
